About Us

LA ACM SIGGRAPH is a Professional Chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery's Special Interest Group in Computer Graphics.

Serving the Los Angeles area, LA ACM SIGGRAPH is the largest local chapter of ACM SIGGRAPH (Association of Computing Machinery Special Interest Group in Computer Graphics).

Officially chartered in September of 1991, LA ACM SIGGRAPH has provided a forum for members to meet regularly, share their work, and exchange ideas.

Organized and operated exclusively for educational and scientific purposes relating to computer graphics, and focusing on educating the community on the uses of computer graphics in entertainment and scientific applications, LA ACM SIGGRAPH is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, run by volunteers.

Our members include computer graphics professionals from a wide array of industries, educators, students and technology enthusiasts.

With such a diverse membership, our monthly membership meetings (about 10 per year) run the gamut from large scale movie screenings with expert panel presentations to smaller technically focused programs.

Past event topics have ranged from digital illustration tools to breakdowns of the latest VFX techniques, from real-time production workflows to stereographic compositing, from Members Only Movie Screenings to CG applications for space exploration.

Our events are held at various venues throughout the Los Angeles area. Recent event venues have included the Television Academy Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre, Disney Linwood Dunn Theater, Sony Pictures Imageworks Ray Harryhausen Theater, Fox Studio Darryl F. Zanuck Theater, the Los Angeles Film School, Barnsdall Municipal Park Theater, UCLA James Bridges theater, AMC Citywalk, and the Von Kármán Auditorium at JPL.
