Mike Amron 2013 Chair

Mike
Amron

Mike's goal is to bring excitement and renewed interest of computer graphics to the creative community in L.A. Mike Amron has worked as a technical director for ILM, DD, VIFX and Metrolight. He has worked on features (Jingle All the Way, Casper, Looney Tunes), commercials and music videos. More recently, he has consulted on Marvel's Avengers, Star Trek: Into Darkness, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. We are witnessing computer graphics entering varied fields: digital illustration, sophisticated real-time applications, advanced character development, adaptive software and hardware, inner-city opportunity... areas which should be shared with our L.A. Siggraph membership to create a better understanding of computer graphics in present day. Mike organized some of the first presentations and panels of computer animation for the San Diego Comic-Con in the '80's. Mike created the SIGGRAPH 99 Electronic Schoolhouse Workshop: "Visual Effects through Adaptive Technologies". He started the first San Diego Siggraph Chapter. He served as the chair for L.A. SIGGRAPH in the 2008-2009 term and produced many L.A. SIGGRAPH programs, including "Digital Illustration", "Digital Production Design", "3D Printing and Scanning", "Kinect Scanning and Motion Capture", and others. Mike also organizes the L.A. Kinect Meetup Group.
