Description

Join us for an evening on the visual effect industry's hottest new trend, stereo 3D film making - from capture to conversion.

Industry experts will cover how stereo 3D works, filming in stereo, editing, visual effects compositing, and the 2D to 3D conversion process.

Join LA ACM SIGGRAPH, February 8th at Barnsdall Art Park in Hollywood for an exciting evening of stereo 3D film making.  Four essential subjects will be covered - stereo capture, stereo editing, stereo compositing, and stereo 3D conversion - with three outstanding presenters: James Neihouse, IMAX Stereographer and DP; Steve Wright, 20 year veteran and master Nuke trainer; and Jonathan Karafin, Director of Production Operations for Digital Domain's new stereography department in Florida.  There will be almost $ 6,000.00 of product giveaways including Mocha rotoscoping and Nuke, the leading VFX compositing program.

The award winning IMAX cinematographer James Neihouse will start the evening by presenting the theory of stereo film making to build an understanding of the process and terminology.  He  will then tap his years of experience shooting stereo to describe the filming process, then follow up with the issues involved with editing stereo.

Steve Wright, 20 year veteran of VFX compositing, will  then take over to demonstrate stereo compositing for visual effects using Nuke, then a tour of Ocula, The Foundry's tool kit for fixing the myriad of problems encountered with capturing stereo footage.

Next up is Jonathan Karafin, from Digital Domain's 3D stereo conversion facility in Florida. Jonathan will share his years of experience at converting 2D features to  3D using the most advanced technology available.

The moderator, Marty Shindler, a leading business and financial consultant for the entertainment industry will share his perspectives on the future business climate and current job opportunities.
