Joel Ferree is the Director of LACMA Lab, the museum’s art & technology grants and exhibition program. They began their work experience in 2006 as the Director of the Spencer Brownstone Gallery. Joel held this position until 2011. In 2011, they joined the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) as a Council Associate, holding this role until 2013. Joel then became the Digital Media Project Manager/Art + Technology Lab Program Manager at LACMA from 2013 to 2015. Finally, Joel became the Art + Technology Lab Program Director at LACMA in 2015.

Ferree pursued their education in a chronological manner. From 1994 to 1999, they attended New York University where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Psychology. Following this, they enrolled in the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation from 2002 to 2004 to pursue a Master of Science (MS) degree in Urban Studies/Affair
