Den Serras
Head of Creative Technology
Redesign Artist Anywhere
Den Serras is a creative professional and visual effects veteran with an extensive background in features, television, and games. Currently the Head of Creative Technology at Redesign Artist Anywhere, Den has a deep history with visual effects and animation, production management, and production technologies.
With a career that started in theater and design before transitioning to visual effects, Den has always been known for tying technical problem solving to artistic goals. His expertise lies in navigating the complexities of artistic production environments, making some of the largest productions possible by developing extensive toolsets for design, motion graphics, visual effects, animation, stereo conversion, game engine optimization, production management, and even an arts elementary school.
After moving to Los Angeles, Den got his MFA from USC's School of Cinematic Arts and since has contributed to a variety of notable projects, with credits in a dozen major franchises including Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel, DC, Lord of The Rings, The Matrix, and The Terminator, as well as the Call of Duty game series. His technical contributions on these projects were focused on simplifying the rigorous demands of Hollywood-scale post-production and taking frustration out of creative processes.
Beyond his work in production, Den has worked in startups, corporations, and as an expert consultant for major studios and facilities. He is also long-term Visual Effects Society member and VES Awards Committee stalwart, where he co-authored the technical workflow that makes such a large awards show possible and is helping lead it into the future. In what time remains he teaches American Kenpo karate, chauffeurs kids endlessly, and is handyman for Watterson Farm, his working family farm in Eagle Rock.
