Casey Schatz graduated from CalArts in 2002 where he studied photography, theater, and computer graphics. Upon graduating, he realized that previsualization was the perfect synthesis of these different art forms. By initially specializing in previs for motion control cranes, an obsession began with bridging the worlds of traditional live action cinematography and camera work in the cg environment. Currently Casey is with Giant Studios to leverage the abilities of motion capture for previsualization and Simulcam. Credits include: Real Steel, Avatar, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Flags of Our Fathers, and over 30 commercials. Outside of work he enjoys photography and spending time with his wife, Giselle.
